Rev. Dr. Maw San Awng Jum

Rev. Dr. Maw San Awng Jum is a Kachin -American Baptist pastor and community leader originally from Myanmar (Burma). He is especially known for his leadership among Kachin Baptist churches in the United States and for advocacy work related to refugees, faith communities, and humanitarian causes:

Rev. Dr. Maw San serves as pastor of the Indiana Kachin Baptist Church in Indianapolis and has been a leading figure in Kachin Baptist Churches USA.  He earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and helped found and organize Kachin Baptist Churches USA, which connects Kachin Baptist congregations across the U.S.  

Rev. Dr. Maw San has represented Kachin and Burmese refugee communities in advocacy meetings with U.S. government officials and international organizations concerning refugees and human rights issues affecting people from Myanmar.  

He has also been active in multicultural and organ donation advocacy work in Indiana through Donate Life Indiana.  

Rev. Dr. Maw San Awng Jum has been one of the prominent leaders helping preserve Kachin Baptist traditions among immigrant and refugee communities in the United States.
